Standing 32 metres high, 242 metres long and composed of 20 arches, it was inaugurated in 1911 to allow the Cherbourg\u2013Barfleur railway line, nicknamed the \u2018Tue-V\u00e2ques\u2019 (Cow Killer), to cross the small Poult river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its construction was challenging due to unstable ground, but for nearly 40 years it boosted tourism and local trade. Sabotaged during the Second World War, it was rebuilt identically in 1947.
